Joining Wood Frames with Wedges
Tools and Supplies: Hammer, rag, wood glue, wedges
1. Lay out 4 frame sections. You will have 2 longs sides and 2 short sides, (unless the frame is square).
2. Turn the frame sides upside down. Using a wood glue, apply it to the corner of a long and short piece.
3. Now holding the two pieces tightly, insert a wedge and gently tap it down into the slot. Use rag to remove any excess glue.
4. On wider frames put two wedges in each corner to secure a tight joint.
5. Turn over and examine the corner for alignment. Make adjustments if necessary. Continue the process. When attaching the final side put glue on both corners before inserting the wedges. Allow glue to dry completely before proceeding to place the artwork package in the frame.
